United Home Builders, Inc. was founded by Robert H. Mueller (locally known as Lombard’s Bob the Builder). From its inception, the company approached custom home building in a totally unique way.
United Home Builders, Inc. is a full service home building firm, specializing in quality custom built homes and remodeling. Our unique program, enhanced by more than 30 years of experience, brings home design and construction under one roof, making building your new home easier than you could ever imagine.

Robert ( Bob ) H. Mueller is the founder and President of United Home Builders, Inc. and comes to you with many years of home building experience. He has over thirty-five years involved in real estate, construction and land development throughout DuPage County.
Bob is a 50+ year resident of Lombard, Illinois. He knew as a child he wanted to become a home builder and developer when at the age of 5 he poured mud foundations all over his parents freshly seeded yard. As Lombard grew and the new homes were built, Bob befriended every building tradesman at every construction site - peppering them with questions about building. Even though the tradesman encouraged him to get lost and leave them alone, Bob knew he wanted to build homes.
The time came to build his first home in 1974 at age 22, and after doing all of the interior trim, tile, paint, flooring, cleaning and laboring, the fruits of his labor were realized at the closing when he received his check for the sale of the home and the profits amounted to $ 124.25. Not very successful money wise but a true education, Bob was not going to give up his dreams.
Over his career Bob has built hundreds of homes, over 300+ of which have been built in Lombard, Illinois alone. One of his proudest accomplishments was turning a nine acre parcel, which had been used as a local disposal site of old cars, wash machines, bottles, etc. and turning it into a first class 23 lot subdivision of upscale homes.
In addition, Bob is an licensed Illinois Real Estate Broker, a registered contractor for DuPage County, and is certified in Lead Remediation. As a service to the community, Bob also serves on the Village of Lombard’s Building Board of Appeals.
United Home Builders, Inc. has been recognized and won several awards, including the Village of Lombard’s James Bell Distinguished Developer Award. As a member of the Better Business Bureau, we have been given an A+ rating.
